Students of Chemistry Society

Collage of students at Chemball

SOCS is the only society of its type on campus. It caters for all students of Chemistry, from first year through to final year Ph.D. Any and all students with Chemistry as their major are automatically members and are encouraged to come along to our events. Even if you're not a Chemistry major, you're welcome to join the society and participate in any/all of it's activities.

Be sure to follow our Facebook page (link below) for updates on all upcoming events and to let us know if there are any events YOU would like to see!

Each year, SOCS runs social events designed to bring everyone involved in the School of Chemistry closer together, and share in some fun together.

SOCS is also responsible for hiring out lockers for students to provide a place to stash your junk (i.e. textbooks/lab gear). Email us to get in quick, as they will sell out!

Throughout the year SOCS holds BBQ's! Some are freebies and some help to fundraise for the ChemBall, so support your society and buy a snag!

A good chance to mix with both staff and students and to test your wits against the best in the business. It’s always a great night filled with laughter, camaraderie and cocktails and a good way to get to know your fellow chemists.

It gives those of us that can cook an excuse to show off our skills and those of us who can’t a chance to procure a cheap, delicious international meal.

This is the biggest event we host each year and not to be missed, especially if you want to see some of your favourite academics getting silly.
