Research Interests

My primary research focus is chemical education. I am passionate about the role of universities to enable science students to develop the confidence and skills to tackle the world's great challenges. Currently I am involved in projects which focus on developing chemistry student's problem-solving skills through increasing metacognition and building transferable 'chemical thinking' skills. I also dabbling in systems thinking and TPACK. I am actively involved in the university’s work integrated learning (WIL) community of practice and the new SciX program for NSW high school students who are studying extension science in their HSC.

My secondary research focus is indoor air quality and the photochemical processes that influence the production of secondary pollutants. I am interested in how the quality of indoor air is impacted by climate-change led developments in the built environment, particularly energy rating requirements for new homes and offices and the use of new materials in consumer products .
