Biographical details
Martin obtained his MChem (Hons) from the University of St Andrews (Scotland) in 2009, where he undertook research projects exploring self-assembly and molecular replicators under the supervision of Prof. Doug Philp. He then moved to the University of Oxford for his DPhil (2013-2016) with Prof Harry L. Anderson FRS, where he studied molecular wires and aromaticity.
A short postdoc in Oxford followed, then a postdoc at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, supported by a Lindemann Trust Fellowship of the English-Speaking Union. He worked in the group of Prof Timothy M. Swager, exploring Faraday rotating materials. Early 2019 involved short postdoctoral visits back to the Anderson group (Oxford) and to MIT.
In June 2019, before Martin started a research group at UNSW in June 2019 as a Scientia Fellow in the School of Chemistry.
