On-Campus Visits

One of the best ways for high school students to experience our outreach programs is to come and visit us on campus. By making use of the top-notch facilities available in School of Chemistry and the Analytical Centre at UNSW, students can participate in Chemistry techniques unlike anything available at school.

Students can perform a number of experiments, including the fatty acid analysis of an oil sample, preparation of biodiesel, analysis of water contamination by ICP-MS (Inductively Coupled Plasma - Mass Spectrometry) and NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) analysis of an unknown white powder.

Students show great enthusiasm for the chemistry demonstrations and experiments on offer, and often participate in lively discussions with their demonstrators. It's a fantastic opportunity for students to get hands-on with chemistry in our modern laboratories and facilities.
