Angewandte paper from Michael Paddon-Row on tetravinylethylene

Posted 26 May 2014

Congratulations to Em. Prof. Michael Paddon-Row and his collaborators at ANU in the Sherburn group on their Angewandte paper! Their paper on tetravinylethylenes, the smallest symmetrical alkene-based structure known to possess both conjugation and cross-conjugation (Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., 2014, 53, 5440) can be found here. A method to make this compound on a multi-gram scale is reported and the scope of the reactivity of this and related systems is provided using a combination of synthetic studies and the accurate composite ab initio MO G4(MP2) method. This paper is no 33 since 2000 in a very successful collaboration between Prof. Michael Paddon-Row at UNSW and Prof. Mick Sherburn at ANU. Combined, their joint papers have now been cited over 400 times with an h-index of 15!
